Welcome

Rose Cottage is situated in the village of Keld in Upper Swaledale in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It is an area of outstanding beauty known for its hardy Swaledale sheep, flower rich hay meadows which burst into colour in June and dry stone walls and buildings.

The area is a walker’s paradise with many walks accessible at Keld including the Pennine Way and the Coast to Coast made famous by Arthur Wainwright. There are countless walks passing beautiful waterfalls, old lead mines and wild moorland. This is also a great area for cycling, flat (relatively!) or more challenging roads such as the Buttertubs Pass.

The cottage is owned by Raymond and Alison Calvert, a local farming family. The family have owned the cottage for over a hundred years and continue to farm a mile further up the road so are on-hand to help if you have any queries.
